This World Health Day, Aster Volunteers UAE collaborated with the Media Studies Department of Amity University Dubai for a joint medical conference on the theme: "Combating Obesity for a Better Future", held at Medcare Royal Hospital, Al Qusais, Dubai. The conference featured a thought-provoking case study presentation titled: "The Plus-Size, Weight Bias, and Obesity: The State of Plus-Size Media Narratives" by Dr. Seema Sangra, Program Leader, Media Studies, Amity University Dubai. An eBook launch also took place during the event, further enriching the conversation. Dr. Malathi Arshanapalai, Chief Medical and Quality Officer, Aster DM Healthcare, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. An engaging panel discussion followed, led by a group of medical experts: Dr. James Zachariah Pulimuttil Specialist General, Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgery Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital, Al Qusais Dr. Brian Mtemererwa Consultant Endocrinology & Internal Medicine Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital, Al Qusais Dr. Arun C S Menon Consultant Endocrinologist Aster Clinic, Aster Jubilee Medical Complex, Bur Dubai Ms. Rahaf Mohammed Altowairqi Clinical Dietitian Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital, Al Qusais The session was moderated by Dr. Yakuta Zaki, Department of Emergency Medicine, Access Clinic, Dubai.
