Here are some Myth-busters to help you understand the process of blood donation better

Myth : "I’ll feel weak or get sick after donating blood."

Fact: Most people feel fine after donating blood. Some may experience mild dizziness or fatigue, but this can usually be alleviated by resting, drinking fluids, and having a snack. Your body quickly replenishes the lost blood volume.

Myth : "Only people with rare blood types need to donate."

Fact: All blood types are needed and in demand. Blood banks need a diverse supply of all blood types to ensure they can meet the needs of all patients.

Myth : "Donating blood will deplete my own blood supply."

Fact: The human body has a remarkable ability to regenerate blood. The plasma portion of your blood is replaced within hours, red blood cells are replenished in about four to six weeks, and platelets are replaced in a few days.

Myth : "You can only donate blood once a year."

Fact: You can donate whole blood every 56 days (8 weeks), up to six times a year. For platelet donations, you can donate more frequently, typically every two weeks, up to 24 times a year.
